has chosen to support this work for these children, noting the impact
we can make on each others lives, working with our abilities.
Culture variation shows very
clearly in art. Environment shapes thew way we see and perceive, it
affects our color preferences based on association with objects that
are strong/weak, happy, sad. good/ bad, and pleasant/unpleasant.
Language
is a way of organizing our expression. Language descriptors, like
letter shapes often translate into image makes. Our history of visual
culture shifts how we shape and organize visual material.
The
drawings were collected very early after the Tsunami. As a result
they are 'fresh impressions' not yet characterized in a sense
of
social memory. As such they offer a rare glimpse into the
natural
mode of descripting thier world.
A
review of 15 key drawings from each country helps one understand a
country style, or compreshension of the geological impact in their
area.
Each country has an introduction to guide the viewer in seeing cultural
expression in a new manner. Our hope is that we gain better
understanding of one another, rather than apply our way of looking at
the events, broading the meanings possible in individual expression.
